WITH A FOCUS ON
TEAM PLAY & FUN
ABOUT LUNDS BASKET
Lunds basket was founded 2006 for players who love the sport but didn't want to go elite but wanted to play a few times a week for the fun of it.
Today, Lunds Basket's concept remains the same, but have also expanded to be a popular place for international players while in Sweden.
Our team is for everyone. We warm up, we play. Our strength is team work and we strive to enable each other rather than solo plays.
The goal is a good sweat and having fun. By showing mutual respect for each other, we end the night with tired legs & a smile on our face.
To keep membership fees down, we do not play in a league. Instead we setup exhibition games vs teams in the area regularly.
When we are not playing we will like to arrange off-court activities for those of us who are interested.
THINKING ABOUT JOINING US?
GREAT! - BUT - RIGHT NOW WE ARE FULL FOR FALL 2020!
Most players are around 20 - 35 years old but if there is a sport where age doesn’t matter, basketball is that sport.
We both practice and play games as one mix-gender team. As long as you pass the ball & have fun - you can play!
We communicate mostly in English as we are a good mix of Swedish & international players.
We play as a team, and expect the same from you. Previous experience is helpful but not a must. You will either play by or be willing to learn the fundamentals of playing as a team, not individuals.
We don't really care if you are quick or slow, aim like a god or not. We DO care about everyone passing the ball and having a positive attitude. That way we all have more fun.
2 practices are free, then 500 kr / Term.
But - right now we are full for the Fall 2020´and not accepting new tryouts.

The friendly and positive atmosphere is the absolute core value of our club. For this reason, we've expanded on the subject and also try to give a few examples of the mind-set we expect of all our players.
We don't discriminate
We welcome players of all genders, cultures and religions. You have an interest in basketball? Great, so do we. Glad you’re here!
We play to have fun first and win second
We value you primarily for what you add to the team in spirit and culture, and after that your basketball talent. We do keep score at practice, but mostly to have regular breaks. You’re more than welcome to be joyful and high-five your teammates after a win or a made basket, but excessive celebration or taunting is not accepted. It’s OK to be disappointed after a lost game, but keep it to yourself and then move on. Don’t put blame on your teammates – they are there to have fun.
…and that goes for scrimmages too
When we scrimmage against other teams, it’s still about fun first and win second. The aim is to give everybody who dresses for the game equal minutes. However, whoever is the coach for the game has final say on substitutions and tactics. Suggestions are welcome, whining is not. We always show respect and never talk trash to teammates, referees or opponents. Keep it cool.
We play by the rules, but it’s not the law
Generally the player fouled calls the foul. Respect the foul call. When calling technical errors on the offensive player (traveling, double dribble, out of bounds, etc), take into consideration the skill level of the player – be more lenient with lesser experienced players.
Disagree with a particular call? Be humble, apply “the benefit of the doubt”, shoot a 3 for it or give the ball away and ask for it on the next disagreed call.
Is anyone repeating the same errors? Try to have a constructive conversation in between games – not in the game.
Our fouls are unintentional
We don’t foul intentionally. Always consider the potential for injury deriving from your play, and stay away from fouling in situations that are potentially dangerous, i.e. submarining players attacking at full speed, diving at a player’s knee, landing with your feet just below the shooter, etc. Fouls happen in basketball, but keep it clean.
Do you feel that anyone in Lunds Basket is not playing by our Core values? Please let us know.
